4 Levels of Straw Phonation
Four Levels of straw phonation to practice:
- Vocalize through a wide straw. The wider the straw the less back pressure you’ll feel. Back pressure is that nice, massage feeling you get as the air recirculates while doing straw work!
- A wide straw blowing bubbles in a cup of water. The water provides gentle resistance and more back pressure. If you’re feeling particularly tired or gunky, more back pressure might feel better for your voice.
- Skinny, singing straws! I like these from @singingstraw . More straws, more airflow.
- A single, skinny straw! Smallest diameter, most back pressure!
