Behind-the-Scenes: Paving the way for the "shiny" moments
Chelsea here :)
Cynthia and I started BVC to help more singers, more regularly, in a group setting.
But I gotta be honest with you.
Lately, I've spent only 10% of my time teaching in studio classes and lessons with students.
Which means the other 90% of my time has been spent redesigning our website; creating a brand new program; writing emails; planning, creating, and posting to social media; managing team members; and crafting perfect repertoire lists.
Whew! 😅 Do you ever feel like this?
Being an actor is really similar.
About 10% of the time you get to do the thing you really love, the thing you became an actor to do: Perform! Go to rehearsal!
The other 90%? You're auditioning, taking class, in voice lessons, learning new material, going to your day job, perusing Actors Access and Backstage, and moving your body.
It's something we don't talk about enough, but that's the truth. Being an actor looks glamorous on the outside but we know that it takes hundreds of unseen hours to get to those shiny, exciting moments. And that's ok! That's the case in almost every industry.
It takes a lot of unseen, behind-the-scenes work to make the fun stuff happen.
So, the next time you're schlepping to dance class or logging on to Zoom if you're headed to Studio Class, remember that you're paving the way for the "shiny" moments. You're DOING THE THING, friend! All of your hard work is an important, necessary part of the process.

It's amazing how we can weave a singing-related lesson into stories about overflowing toilets, postpartum photoshoots, or maid-of-honor wedding speeches. Now you're intrigued, right?!
